Aston Villa secured a 10th successive victory for the first time in their history after a 1-0 win over relegation threatened Millwall on Monday.
The stunning run of form has seen Dean Smith’s men go from languishing in mid-table obscurity to sealing a spot in the Championship play-offs.
The victory over Neil Harris’ men has seen the Villains surpass the nine-game winning streak they set all the way back in 1910.
Villa are one of 10 sides who have achieved the same feat while playing in the second tier.
With two games remaining of the regular season, Smith side’s will go joint third in that all-time list, alongside London duo Charlton and Fulham, should they beat both Leeds United and Norwich City.
Manchester United and Bristol City hold the longest winning streak in second tier history after both clubs secured 14 consecutive victories way back in 1905.
With both Leeds and Norwich fighting for promotion to the Premier League, it will be a hard task for the Midlands outfit to continue their memorable run.
However, if Jack Grealish and co are on song – then anything is possible.

Selling Pogba and DDG might actually get us 3-4 of such players, and be better in the long run at filling squad deficiencies. If we can even sell Alexis, we can overhaul half our first team. Manchester United may be a club who can pay the wages, but your performances have to match that.
