Thierry Henry: Controversial Twitter thread exposing ‘most overrated striker in history’ goes viral

Thierry Henry had an extraordinary career, making it to the top of football on numerous occasions.

He won two Premier Leagues, two LaLiga titles in one of the greatest Barcelona teams ever, and a Ligue 1 crown to name but a few.

The Frenchman also boasts winners’ medals from the 1998 World Cup and the European Championships in 2000.

The former striker, who is probably best known for his days at Arsenal, also won a number of individual accolades including PFA Players’ Player of the Year in 2003 and 2004.

Henry is also the Gunners’ record goalscorer with a staggering 228 strikes for the club.

However, all these achievements are not enough in the eyes of one football fan on Twitter, who tweeted a stunning thread exposing Henry as a ‘bottler’.

Unai Emery took charge of his 50th Arsenal game on Thursday night as his side made it through to the semi-finals of the Europa League.

Their 1-0 win at Napoli was enough to see them progress to the final four of the competition.

It has been a long season for the Gunners with at least seven games still to play, eight if they reach the Europa League final.

Emery is starting to show his credentials as Arsenal manager and showing why they wanted him to replace Arsene Wenger last summer.

His side have won six of their last seven games and conceded just one goal in that time.

Emery has won 32 of his first 50 games in charge â€“ the most by any Arsenal manager.

George Allison is second on the list, with 28 wins, and he is their second longest serving manager who took charge for 13 years until 1947.

George Graham is third with 27 wins from his opening 50 matches.

Emery may feel those wins could be higher, though, as two of his defeats have come against Bate Borisov and Rennes.

The Gunners are also fourth in the Premier League with five games to go.

If Unai Emery can secure a top four finish and win the Europa League then it will no doubt be deemed a successful season.

Paul Merson believes Chelsea should have replaced manager Maurizio Sarri with Brendan Rodgers at the end of the season.

Rodgers left Celtic to join the Foxes in February and has won five of his first eight Premier League matches in charge.

Sarri has endured a difficult debut season in England with his football coming under-fire from Chelsea fans.

And Merson, who made 429 appearances for Arsenal between 1985 and 1997, says Chelsea should have promised Rodgers the job in the summer.

He told Sky Sports: â€œI donâ€™t know how, when Leicester went for Brendan Rodgers, that someone at Chelsea didnâ€™t ring him and say â€˜just wait, just wait six monthsâ€™ because I canâ€™t see Sarri being there because the fans just arenâ€™t having it.

Raul Jimenez: Wolves complete permanent signing of on-loan forward for club-record fee

Raul Jimenez has completed a permanent move to Wolves for a club-record fee, the Premier League side have confirmed.

Jimenez, the Mexico forward, has spent the season on loan at Molineux having joined on a year-long deal from Benfica last summer.

He has scored 15 goals in 37 games for Nuno’s side – also chipping in with three assists – as Wolves battle to finish seventh in the Premier League and also hope to book their place in the FA Cup final.

They take on Watford this weekend in the second semi-final, with the victor facing either Manchester City or Brighton in the Wembley showpiece.

Wolves had the option to sign Jimenez on a permanent basis written into their loan deal for the 27-year-old, and they are believed to have paid Â£32million to secure his signature.

Jimenez has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Midlands club.

He becomes Wanderers’ most expensive signing ever surpassing previous record holder Adama Traore, who joined the club last summer for Â£18million.

The forward said: â€œItâ€™s a great honour for me to now be a permanent member of the team. Iâ€™m very happy for this permanent deal as I feel that being at Wolves suits me.

â€œIâ€™ve enjoyed my time here, I enjoy playing in the pitch and, along with all my teammates, we try our best in all the matches to win.

â€œSince Iâ€™ve arrived here itâ€™s all been so good. Weâ€™ve had some good moments, some bad moments; but the best ones have been so good and Iâ€™m very happy for that.â€

Kevin Thelwell, the club’s sporting director, added: â€œThe impact Raul has made during his short time at the club has been fantastic and weâ€™re delighted that heâ€™ll be part of the clubâ€™s long-term future.

â€œFrom the second he walked through the door, he settled straight into the group, and that reflects in his performance, with Raul providing assists and overall selfless performances, as well as obviously goals.

â€œHis goals in the Premier League and FA Cup have been vital to this seasonâ€™s success and weâ€™re looking forward to seeing him contribute even more during what will be an exciting end to the season in both competitions.

â€œRaul’s permanent signing shows the ambition of this football club and the determination to make sure the future is an exciting one.â€

Jimenez, who has made 71 appearances for Mexico, began his career with Club America in his homeland before moving to Europe in 2014 to join Atletico Madrid.

He left after a single season in Spain for Benfica, spending three years with the Portuguese outfit until completing his loan switch to Wolves last summer.
