Raheem Sterling is one of the ‘top ten most valuable players’ in European football right now, believes talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino.
The Manchester City star continued his fine goalscoring form with a hat-trick in England’s 5-0 drubbing of the Czech Republic on Friday night.
Sterling faced harsh criticism for his lack of goals during the Three Lions’ run to the World Cup semi-finals in Russia last summer, but he has answered those critics in some style this season.
The 24-year-old’s well-taken treble took his goal tally to 24 for club and county this term – overtaking his career-best tally of 23 from last year – and with plenty of games still to play.
Sterling has been one of Man City’s most consistent performers throughout the current campaign, as Pep Guardiola’s side look to upset Liverpool and claim their second straight Premier League.
And Cascarino believes the youngster has transformed into one of Europe’s finest players.
“At the moment he’s one of the ten most valuable players in Europe,†said the former Republic of Ireland striker on the Weekend Sports Breakfast.
“If you were Real Madrid, or any of the biggest clubs in Europe, and you saw the way he tore apart Spain, you’ll be thinking: ‘He’s 24, if we can get him we’ll take him’.
“There will be clubs all over Europe looking at him.

“What sort of fee would you be looking at? Well, Ousmane Dembele at Barcelona – he’s a fantastic talent, incredibly quick and dangerous and he went for a lot of money, around €140million.
“Raheem is not in the same league [as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi] but he’s certainly in the top ten most valuable players in European football, without a doubt.
“If he stays injury-free, Raheem has everything at his feet to be winning things on a regular basis for his club and maybe, just maybe, his country.â€
Sterling is said to have attracted plenty of suitors thanks for his sensational form, with Real Madrid linked with an interest in the Englishman.
But the forward signed a new three-year contract extension at Manchester City only in November, committing him to the Premier League champions until 2023.
And Cascarino says the winger has no reason to leave the Blues while Pep Guardiola is still at the helm.
He added: “As long as Pep is there, why would you leave a top manager?
“He knows how much of an impact and influence Guardiola has had on his career to help him become a better player. Why would you want to leave Pep?
“Raheem deserves to have a top manager with him who is going to improve him and keep getting the very, very best out of him.â€
