Pep Guardiola believes his side were the dominant team throughout their Champions League quarter-final first leg clash with Tottenham – despite Manchester City LOSING the match.
Heung-min Son’s second-half goal decided Tuesday evening’s clash and puts Spurs in the driving seat ahead of next week’s return fixture at the Etihad.
The north Londoners were good value for their victory, with City restricted to only one clear chance – a penalty, awarded after a VAR review, which Hugo Lloris saved from Sergio Aguero.
Spurs tested Ederson more frequently and appeared to have their opponents rattled throughout much of the match, even though City ended the clash with more possession than the hosts.
And Guardiola claims his side, who were remarkably poor by their usual elite standards, actually had supremacy in the match.

He said: “Except for a few chances we conceded on set-pieces and counter-attacks we controlled the game.
“We will see if we are going to change it a bit but, with our people, with our fans, our families, we will see.
“If we are not able to arrive in the last stages it is because it is a challenge. The situation is what it is.

“When we don’t play good I am the guy who says we didn’t play good, but I don’t have that feeling.”
A one-goal advantage is by no means an emphatic lead for Spurs heading into the second leg, and Guardiola admitted it may actually do his side good to have lost the initial encounter.
He added: “With 0-0 you have to (think about whether to) ‘attack?’ ‘defend?’. Now we know what we have to do.”
