Harry Kane offers Ella Markham chance to be Tottenham mascot after Spurs fan with Down’s syndrome is subject to vile online abuse

Harry Kane has invited a girl to be a mascot at Tottenham’s final match of the season after she was abused online by horrible trolls.

Ella Markham, 16, became the target of vile abuse when her father, Neil, posted a video of her dancing after Spurs’ defeat by West Ham.

Mr Markham shared the heartwarming video on Twitter with the caption, ‘The result is never the most important thing’ – but it wasn’t long before trolls invaded the replies.

A number of former Tottenham players have since offered their support to Ella, who has Down’s syndrome, and condemned those who abused her online.

Mr Markham discussed the abuse with the Standard: “Saturday night was just absolutely horrific. It was horrible.

“Say what you like about me, but not my daughter.

“I tried to front them up. This is wrong.”

Ella has since been sent a message by one of her favourite players, Harry Kane, who has invited her to be a mascot at Tottenham’s final match of the season against Everton.

“I saw the video of you dancing at the Spurs game and I want to thank you for your amazing support,” Kane said. “I loved it!

“We know your family are proud as well.
