Manchester United stars are facing a 25 per cent pay cut if the Red Devils fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League, according to reports.
According to The Sun, the players’ current deals are structured with up to a quarter of their wages taken away if do not reach Europe’s elite competition next campaign.
The reduction in pay, which is reportedly written into contracts to protect drops in revenues at the club, could encourage Real Madrid in their pursuit of Paul Pogba.
The 26-year-old has been mooted as a potential target for Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, who has been promised an expensive overhaul of the current crop of Los Blancos stars.
Pogba recently flirted with speculation linking him with a move to the Spanish capital, claiming playing for the European champions is ‘a dream for anyone’.
However, United boss Solskjaer believes the Frenchman will stay, insisting: “I cannot see him not playing for us next season.â€
